Doherty is the only Red Storm runner to have broken 4:30. ![]() They have the top three times in conference respectively, and could potentially score 24 points for Scarborough, which is the team favorite going into the meet. The Red Storm will look to score major points in this event as Tardiff, Sholl and Connor Doherty are all entered in the event. Also watch for another Scarborough runner, Shamus Malia who has run 2:04.23 this winter. ![]() He holds a season best time of 2:03.57, which ranks fifth in the conference. Ethan Orach of Gorham is another runner to watch. Trying to challenge the Red Storm duo will be Joshua Richards of Westbrook who comes into the meet having run 2:03.11, which he ran back on Jan. Both are running the mile, so this event could come down to a battle of attrition between them. Sholl has a personal best of 2:00.35, which ranks third in the state regardless of cass, while Tardiff has run 2:01.96 which ranks fifth. Either way, it should be an excellent race.Īndrew Sholl and Colin Tardiff of Scarborough come into the meet with the top two seeds in the event and are the favorites in the 800. Beaumier has the best 800 time of all these runners, but Volan has the fastest mile time. If the race becomes slow and tactical, look for either Beaumier or Volan. She’s the only runner of the group to have broken 12 minutes multiple times. If the pace is fast, don’t be surprised to see McKenzie come out on top. All of these runners can win this event on any given day. Laura Volan for the Red Storm comes in having run 12:06.64 which ranks fourth in the conference and Serena McKenzie of South Portland ranks fifth having run 12:16. In that Jan.18 race she edged Ami Beaumier of Bonny Eagle who ran 11:52, who subsequently is seeded second in the event. 18, which ranks as the second fastest time in the conference. Unlike the 800 where there are junior and senior divisions, the mile is open which makes the race more competitive. ![]() She comes in with a time of 5:14, which she ran at the USM Relays which ranks as the third fastest time in the state. Also watch for Marissa Carbone of Scarborough and Maggie Hosmer of Portland.Īnna Slager of Gorham will look to continue her stellar season with a win in the mile on Saturday. She has run 2:28.90 this winter and comes in as the two seed. Looking to challenge her will be Natalie Dubois of Marshwood. She should be considered the favorite in the event. Kialeigh Marston of Bonny Eagle has the top seed time of 2:26.77 which she ran at the SMAA last chance meet on Jan. The girls senior division will be one of the more competitive races of the day as it features four girls who have broken 2:30 this season. She has the second fastest time in the conference having run 2:24.52 and should win the junior division with relative ease. Sophomore Anna Slager of Gorham will be running in the junior division of the 800. On the boys side, the Scarborough trio of Colin Tardiff, Andrew Sholl and Connor Doherty will look to rack up some major points for the Red Storm as they look for another Southwestern team title. The SMAA has plenty of depth on the girls side, but Anna Slager of Gorham looks to be the heavy favorite in the mile and 800.
